Welcome to The On Ramp
Start your Bitcoin journey here. Simply and safely in 15 minutes per week.
Your journey starts here.
I decided to start writing The On Ramp so the average person who’s been hearing a lot about Bitcoin (and crypto) could find a simple, step-by-step guide to help them start investing in it safely and without taking a lot of time.
My job here is to take something that can sometimes feel confusing and overwhelming, and break it down into simple steps that you can put into action in about 15 minutes or so each week.
One thing to remember is that we are hardwired to dismiss things that we don’t understand. You might be feeling that about Bitcoin and crypto. When we encounter something new, we have two choices: We can choose to dismiss it and be content with what we already know OR we can choose to be curious and expand our understanding of the world we find ourselves in. Which will you choose?
What is The On Ramp?
A weekly newsletter, delivered every Wednesday, that provides a series of step-by-step guides for people interested in learning how to safely invest in Bitcoin and crypto.
An opportunity to explore you curiosity, expand your knowledge, and get a step ahead on something that is quickly becoming more mainstream every day.
What This is Not
This is not a way to get rich quick. If you’re looking for tips on the latest coin to make 1000% gains in 7 days, this is not the place. Bitcoin and crypto are still in their early stages and highly volatile, so this is about longer term investing.
This is not just for “younger people” (I’m 46) or “smarter people” (I’m pretty average). Investing in your financial future is for anyone at any age and it doesn’t have to be confusing or take up all your time. If I do my job right, it will feel simple and hopefully fun!
This is not time consuming. Subscribers will get one guide on one topic delivered via email each week. The topics will build upon themselves over time and set a solid foundation. My job is not to write long emails. I will do my best to explain things simply, in as few words as possible, and keep things very actionable. Expect to spend 15 minutes per week on average.
This is not investment or tax advice. It’s always important you do your own research (DYOR as they say). This newsletter is strictly educational and is not investment advice or a solicitation to buy or sell any assets or to make any financial decisions. This newsletter is not tax advice. Talk to your accountant. Do your own research.
I decided to write this because I was you … and I am you. I first heard about Bitcoin in 2013. I was curious, but I didn’t fully get it at the time and didn’t take the opportunity to really dig in. Later, after a huge rise in price in 2017, Bitcoin got my attention again. So I started spending time immersing myself in the confusing world of crypto blogs, articles, and podcasts just to understand the basics. There’s a lot of jargon and things continue to change quickly, so I’m still learning new things every day and I will share what I learn with you as we go along.
And it won’t just be me. I’ll bring in experts on specific topics we need to cover (like taxes for example) and break down their guidance into actionable steps you can take.
Alright, so let’s get to it and have some fun along the way! Check out the first guide here and make sure to subscribe below to have The On Ramp delivered directly to your inbox.
Onward and upward,
Carl
